Jarek, 44, joined ISS in May 2023 as Facility Manager at a major materials and recycling company in Poland. In this role, he leads a team of more than 20 people.
“I start the day by having breakfast with the team, discussing our top priorities and sharing important updates. These meetings help us stay aligned and, most importantly, strengthen our teamwork.”
As team leader, Jarek ensures that everyone understands how their role contributes to delivering exceptional services to the customer.
“I have over 20 years of experience within the facility management industry, and I’ve worked both on the customer side and as a subcontractor. In my role, I make sure to train my team and support their onboarding, because when everyone understands their role, we can work as one team and ensure a seamless customer experience.”
United to safeguard people and places
That focus on teamwork and resilience proved crucial when severe floods hit Nysa in September 2024. After his workday, he went above and beyond to help protect his hometown from the effects of flooding.
“I worked tirelessly to protect my hometown from the flooding. It was frightening, especially as it all unfolded throughout the night,” he recalls. “It was very chaotic. Many people wanted to help but didn’t know what to do. We had to act quickly, so I stepped in to organise the effort – lining people up to pass heavy sandbags and strengthen the riverbanks.”
The flooding caused extensive damage to homes, public buildings and businesses. Determined to make a difference, Jarek brought together both his team and the customer's team to support the clean-up of the emergency hospital, ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
“It was hard work. The hospital had been completely flooded, and we had to carry out beds, sofas and specialised medical equipment. What makes me proud is the willingness everyone showed to help and to be part of such a fantastic team.”
The joint effort helped restore critical facilities and ensure patients could return to a safe environment as quickly as possible – something Jarek is rightly proud to have been part of.
